Transitioning to Fall: Flutter Sleeve Top – 3 ways
Good Morning! With pumpkins arriving daily at Trader Joe’s and PSL’s on the menu at every corner coffee shop, I can’t help but get excited about fall fashion. I shared 3 ways to transition this cute gingham popover a couple weeks ago and I wanted to showcase another of my favorite summer to fall transitional tops on the blog today.
Flutter Sleeve Top with Boyfriend Jeans & Booties
I immediately fell for this pretty, flutter sleeve, floral top. The soft ivory color, eyelet detail and delicate buttons are the special details that elevate this top from being just your average tee. The colors in this top perfectly compliment the fall foliage and help to transition your wardrobe as the season starts to change. This top runs true to size (I bought a small), but runs a little on the short side. If you have a long torso this might not be the top for you. As a bonus, this top was just marked down to under $50 and is available in every size except xxs. It also comes in a gorgeous tangerine color which is available in every size.
I paired the flutter sleeve top with boyfriend jeans and my new favorite booties. The boyfriend jeans are a great option on warm fall days when you still want to show a little skin. This pair runs big so I sized down to a 27. They have a little bit of stretch, but not so much that they are baggy by the end of the day. I can’t rave enough about these booties. These booties lengthen the appearance of my legs due to the fact that they are cut shorter in the front. Other booties tend to cut me off right at the ankle with can make my legs appear shorter. The perforations in the suede make this the perfect bootie to wear while the weather is still warm. I rate them a 10 on the comfort scale.
My daughter bought me this beautiful Rafiki bracelet when we attended WE Day last spring together. This bracelet is the bestselling #GirlLove Rafiki design created in collaboration with Lilly Singh. Every Rafiki sold supports Lilly’s mission to empower girls with education. #GirlLove is about building each other up, leaving behind the negativity and achieving amazing things together. It can be worn as a bracelet, necklace, anklet and more!
Flutter Sleeve Top with a Denim Skirt & Wedges
This denim skirt and these wedge sandals were two of my summer staples that I talked about here. By simply exchanging my bright summer tops for this flutter sleeved top, I was able to give this outfit some fall flair. This particular denim skirt had very limited sizes left in stock, but I was able to find similar styles at J Crew, Nordstrom, Anthropologie, Madewell and Old Navy. Most of them were on sale since they were part of the summer collections. These wedge sandals were one of the best purchases I’ve made this year. They can be worn day or night and are neutral enough to go with everything.
If I had to pick one make-up product I couldn’t live without, it would probably be lipstick. Lipstick or gloss is something I rarely leave the house without. I particularly like this cool, neutral, praline rose shade for fall. I added some moisturizing gloss in bougainvillea to top it off. I actually ate dinner after I applied this lipstick and before my daughter took these pictures and never even had to reapply my lipstick thanks to this brand’s staying power.
Flutter Sleeve Top with Utility Pants & Loafers
You saw these utility pants in a previous post here and they prove once again to be a great closet staple when transitioning between the seasons. The stretchy fabric keeps me comfortable from morning to night and the ankle length is flattering with sandals, flats and booties. I am wearing a size 28. My burgundy cross body bag was a birthday gift a couple years ago. I love tassels and studs, so this bag is right up my alley. The only downside is that the grommets on the shoulder strap tend to pull my hair. Lucky for you, I found a bag that is the same color, with a tassel, but without grommets here. Cross body bags are especially useful if you are out shopping or sightseeing for the day because it keeps your hand free to carry shopping bags, sip a latte, or take pictures.
I wrote about these loafers recently here. I am having a hard time finding a fall outfit these flats don’t look great with. If you are on the shorter side, you can’t go wrong with a pointy toed, flesh colored shoe. As somebody who measures just 5’4, I will take the illusion of having longer legs any day.
Temperatures here have been fluctuating from anywhere in the 60’s to the 90’s. I hope these outfits inspire you add a little bit of fall style to your everyday outfits while dressing for whatever weather the day brings.
