It’s All About the Details

Good Morning! I stayed up a little too late last night to watch the newest episode of New Amsterdam. Have you watched it? After not watching much TV this summer, I am making up for it watching all the new fall episodes. I couldn’t wait for This Is Us, Madame Secretary and Grey’s Anatomy to return. The Murphy Brown reboot and New Amsterdam are my new must see TV shows. I’m still undecided if I’m going to continue watching Manifest or A Million Little Things. What do you think about the new fall line up?

Earlier this month I wrote a post about 15 of my Favorite Fall Outfits. I am pretty much a jeans and tee-shirt kind of gal most days. My trick to wearing jeans and tees day after day is to shop for tops with details that make an otherwise basic item, pop. I am a sucker for the details! It doesn’t matter if it’s a piece of clothing, home decor, or stationary, everything is better when you add ribbon, sparkle, studs, pompoms, embroidery, tassels, knots, lace, ruffles and buttons (in moderationūüėČ). Today, I am showcasing a few of the details that caught my eye when shopping for my 15 Fall Outfits.¬†The three tops I am wearing all came from Anthropologie. One of the things I like best about Anthropologie are the unique details that make their clothing, accessories and home decor feel special and different. Unfortunately, their full priced items can sometimes be quite a splurge. Luckily, two of the three items I am pictured in today are currently on sale.

Did you know that it is Friends & Family week at LOFT? I have been a longtime fan of LOFT because of their reasonable prices, cute clothing, and range of styles. For a long time they were the only spot that I could find pants that fit well because they were one of the first retailers to offer a curvy fit for figures that are more of an hourglass shape. I thought the Friends & Family Event was the perfect opportunity to show you some alternatives to the tops I found at Anthropologie because at LOFT you can often find the same adorable styles at a lower price point.

Knot Detail

The knot detail in this top adds a little something special to an otherwise ordinary waffle knit top. Ordinarily, I would do a little side or front tuck when pairing a t-shirt with jeans in order to make my legs appear longer. This top takes the guess work out of tucking and lengthens your legs all at once. It is available in four colors including a pretty, dark turquoise. I am wearing a small.

I loved the price point for the knot detail tops at LOFT. Both are less that $20 and come in a variety of colors. I especially like the classic maroon color they offer. I tend to buy tops in a size small when shopping at LOFT.

Lace Detail and Flutter Sleeves

This shirt is not short on special details. The ruffle sleeve, fabric covered buttons, and rounded hem all make this shirt one of my favorites. The lace detail on this shirt keeps me cool on a warm fall day and provides a subtle yet sexy peek of bare skin underneath.  I especially appreciate that the armhole is keeps everything covered despite the lower cut ruffle sleeve. Just that little piece of added fabric makes the shirt more wearable. It is currently on sale in tangerine for $29.95. I am wearing a small.

I was instantly smitten with the fall colors of the ruffle henley shell below. In fact, it is currently in my shopping cart! It also comes in multiple other patterns and colors. The button placement, and floral print are both reminiscent of the shirt above. Lace details and flutter sleeves on the second shirt are also similar to the details on my flutter-sleeve top, but the heather grey color is a nice alternative if you already have a lot of pattern in your closet. I am often drawn to tops that have ruffles or flutter sleeves because my figure is somewhere between an hourglass and a pear shape. The sleeves give my narrow shoulders the appearance of being a bit broader which in turn makes my figure appear more balanced on the top and bottom.

Button Detail

This shirt packs a punch in the adorable detail category. I love the colors of this floral pattern on the sleeve for fall, but its the addition of the buttons that adds exponentially to the cuteness factor. I am wearing a small. It is currently on sale for $29.95.

The button shoulder tip below is most similar to the shirt above and comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns. If you are looking for something heavier during the cooler months, the sweater and sweatshirt are cute options. The sweatshirt has an additional fluttery hem detail that elevates it from being just another sweatshirt.

Do you love a little embellishment on your clothing and accessories like me or do you like keeping things plain and simple?
