Summer Style: My favorite bottoms- 3 ways
Happy Tuesday Friends! I want to chat about a few of my favorite summer wardrobe staples today. We recently got back from spending several weeks in Tahoe (read about our trip here, here and here). The 3 bottoms I’m showing you today, my favorite shorts, a knit dress and a pair of joggers for lounging were the only items I packed to wear during our vacation. Even with the limited amount of bottoms, I was able to wear a completely different outfit each of the 24 days that I was there. I love the fact that I can pair each of these bottoms with almost anything and dress them up or down depending on the occasion or activity. I find that August can be a good time to shop for summer clothes because the stores are starting to mark down their summer inventory to make room for fall pieces. If you shop now you will still be able to get a couple months wear out of your new clothes, breathe new life into your current summer wardrobe and be prepared when summer comes around next year. For sizing reference I am 5″4 and 140 pounds with an hourglass shape.
White Jeans
A flattering pair of white jeans can be hard to find. I tried on dozens before I bought this pair. They fit true to size and I am wearing a size 29. A pair of crisp white jeans are one of the best investments you can make in your summer wardrobe. You can just as easily wear them out and about during the day as you can dress them up for a night on the town.

Denim Skirt
I can not say enough about this skirt. I love the flattering length and the fact that I can wear it with flat sandals during the day, then dress it up with a pair of wedges to go out to dinner. I like the frayed edge for a more casual summer vibe. I purchased this skirt last summer, but they brought it back again this summer with a slightly different seam line down the front. It is currently on sale for 60% off.

Denim Crops
You will wear your cropped jeans from spring until fall. The cropped ankle length is more flattering than mid calf length which can make your legs appear shorter. The cropped length will keep you cooler than a traditional pair of jeans. I like the raw edge hem on this particular pair. I bought these cropped jeans awhile ago, but found a similar pair here.

By keeping my bottoms neutral it allows me to play with color, pattern and texture on the top. I love shirts with special touches such as embroidery, ties and ruffles. My accessories this summer often have a fun pop of color such as a fun pair of statement earrings, a tassel necklace or a bright lip color. This hot pink lipstick and gloss have been my favorite this summer because the bright color doesn’t fade or transfer and it lasts for several hours.

What are your wardrobe summer staples?
